Published on:<\/strong><\/em> March 2, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n Federal transit law limits the use of Urbanized Area<\/a> Formula Grants (Section 5307) and Formula Grants for Rural Areas<\/a> (Section 5311) for operating expenses that address an emergency to two years. Therefore, formula funds may not be used to reimburse COVID-19-related operating expenses at 100-percent federal share for activities occurring after January 21, 2022. CARES, CRRSAA, and ARP funds remain available at 100-percent federal share for these operating expenses.<\/p>\n This week, FTA posted 16 revised pandemic relief Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)<\/a> regarding the expiration of availability of Section 5307 and 5311 formula funds for operating expenses to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic at 100-percent federal share (see questions CA25, ER1, ER2, ER4, ER11, ER12, ER14, ER16, CE2, CE4, CE5, CE7, CE9, CE12, CE18 and AD17).<\/p>\n
