FTA Launches Phase 2 of Sustainable Transit for a Healthy Planet Climate Challenge<\/h2>\n

Published on: <\/strong><\/em>July 13, 2022<\/em><\/p>\n

FTA recently launched Phase 2 of the Sustainable Transit for a Healthy Planet Challenge<\/a>. The challenge encourages transit agencies to take bold actions to further reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions to support President Biden\u2019s GHG reduction goals. The challenge calls on transit agencies to develop climate, sustainability, or electrification or zero-emission transition plans that include strategies to achieve GHG emission targets.<\/p>\n

During Phase 2, FTA seeks to increase participation by 25 percent \u2013 to 250 total FTA recipients committed to measurable and achievable climate goals \u2013 to ensure the transit industry continues to make progress in curbing greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n

All transit agencies nationwide, regardless of size or service area, are encouraged to participate. Throughout 2022 and early 2023, FTA will continue to provide technical assistance to participants as they develop their plans and strategies, which are due by March 1, 2023.<\/p>\n
