FTA published the Crash Energy Management for Heavy Rail Vehicles, Light Rail Vehicles, and Streetcars research report. The report presents background research and analysis on needs and gaps for new standards related to transit crashworthiness, the ability of a transit vehicle to protect its occupants during a collision, and crash energy management, a performance-based technique that is used to improve passenger safety.
