REMINDER: PTASP-NPRM Comments Due June 26, 2023; Proposed Regulatory Update to Public Transportation Agency Safety Plans<\/h2>\n

To protect transit workers and riders, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is proposing new safety requirements authorized under President Biden\u2019s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law<\/a>. In a proposed update to the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plans (PTASP) rule<\/a>, FTA will codify communication between frontline transit workers and management, an important measure to address worker assaults. FTA is seeking public comment on the requirements, which strengthen safety policies, procedures and practices in the transit industry.<\/p>\n

FTA published a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) in the Federal Register<\/a> on April 26, 2023. Some requirements only apply to transit agencies serving large urbanized areas, and include:<\/p>\n
