FTA Seeks Input on Transit Bus Automation Research and Demonstrations

Published on: June 1, 2022

FTA today issued a Request for Information soliciting input from industry stakeholders on updating FTA’s Strategic Transit Automation Research (STAR) Plan. The STAR program, a five-year research plan on transit bus automation, establishes a research and demonstration framework that involves academia, public institutions, and the private sector to help determine the potential benefits and costs and provide transit agencies with the resources, guidance, and tools to make informed deployment decisions. Comments are due Monday, August 1, 2022.

The transit industry’s input is important in identifying the next phase of research, collaboration and engagement, technology development, and demonstration of advanced driver assistance systems. FTA will use this information to develop the next phase of its research plan.
