Minnesota: Nationally Recognized for Leading the Way in ELDT

Published on: August 31, 2022

The RTAP Entry Level Driver Training (ELDT) curriculum is appreciated across the country. RTAP has received requests for test answer keys from organizations located across the country, including AR, CA, GA, MA, MN, ND, NJ, OR, WI, and Washington D.C. Most share that they find it during a web search for ELDT information. Anyone can access the curriculum from the RTAP website; however, they must complete a form to request the test answer keys. The answers are shared with non-profit and public transit organizations.

TJ Johnson, a driver and trainer for Productive Alternatives, Inc. / Transit Alternatives, shared that Minnesota was praised at a national workshop he attended in May. The workshop, which included information about ELDT, was part of the annual EXPO hosted by the Community Transit Association of America (CTAA). The speaker said that MN was leading the way on setting up a training course others could follow. TJ shared that because of his experience with Minnesota’s training curriculum, he was able to assist the speaker in fielding questions about ELDT.

National RTAP is sharing Minnesota’s resources with other states as an example of a state working well together to support public transit through the new requirements. Thank you to  the ELDT Working group for all their great work! The next working group meeting is November 4, 2022 and is open to anyone who wants to attend. Register here!

to request a different date or venue for this course — or request a new course entirely.
