REMINDER: Agency Safety Plan Compliance Date and Resources

Published on: October 21, 2022

As part of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law changes to the Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP) requirements, transit agencies that receive Section 5307 funding and serve a large urbanized area (population of 200,000 or more) have until Saturday, December 31, 2022 to have their Safety Committee approve an update to the agency’s Agency Safety Plan (ASP). For more information on the requirements, please refer to the Dear Colleague Letter or the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Frequently Asked Questions webpage.

To help transit agencies update their ASP to comply with the new requirements, FTA published ASP Checklist for RTA and ASP Checklist for Bus as part of the PTASP Technical Assistance Center (TAC) Resource Library.

Transit agencies can submit updated ASPs for voluntary ASP review by the PTASP TAC by sending the ASP to PTASP-TAC@dot.gov. In addition, if you would like to add your ASP to the ASP Directory, please contact PTASP-TAC@dot.gov.

All FTA Bipartisan Infrastructure Law updates are available on www.transit.dot.gov/BIL. For questions about Bipartisan Infrastructure Law requirements, please email FTA-IIJA@dot.gov.
