July is #busmonth

Since the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was passed in 2021, FTA has invested billions of dollars into the nation’s transit bus systems. To highlight a record two-year investment of more than $3.3 billion, FTA will feature information about the agency’s bus grants on its social media platforms throughout July. These daily #busmonth posts will highlight urban and rural systems from coast to coast – and everywhere in between – that will receive Fiscal Year 2023 bus grants. Follow along at #billions4buses and #busmonth.
Earlier this week, FTA announced 130 awards through FTA’s Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities and Low- and No-Emission (Low-No) Vehicle programs totaling nearly $1.7 billion for transit projects in 46 states and territories. The funding invests in more than 1,700 American-built buses, and nearly half will be zero-emission models.
To learn more about the awards, check out FTA’s interactive story-map data visualization tool, which allows users to select individual projects to learn more about them, including project sponsors, descriptions, propulsion type, congressional districts, and funding amounts. Or watch FTA’s bus video highlighting how a bus system in Maryland is embracing a clean and green bus program with help from a previous FTA bus grant.
