REMINDER: Register for FTA’s Safety Training Regulation Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Webinar — November 8, 2023

Register for the Public Transportation Safety Certification Training Program (PTSCTP) regulation Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) webinar on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. CT. The webinar will review proposed changes to the PTSCTP regulation, update timeline and how to submit comments.

To maintain effective safety training for the industry, FTA published proposed updates to the PTSCTP regulation in the Federal Register on October 26, 2023 to streamline processes and clarify requirements. The public will have 60 days – until December 26, 2023 – to submit comments on the proposed changes.

The proposed updates will refine the PTSCTP communication process, add administrative requirements and clarify voluntary PTSCTP participation and refresher training requirements. The rule maintains the existing minimum training requirements for State Safety Oversight Agency (SSOA) personnel and rail transit safety personnel. FTA also seeks comments on whether mandatory PTSCTP participation should extend to bus transit agencies and personnel.
