Nominations are Open for Tribal Transit Awards

In 2019, National RTAP presented the first biennial Tribal Transit Awards. This year’s awards will be presented at the National RTAP Technical Assistance Conference: Navigating the Tides of Change for Rural and Tribal Transit, December 3-6, 2023 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The three awards recognize challenges overcome and best practices that raise the bar for tribal transit. The recognition distinguishes the award recipients as champions in this industry.

The Tribal Transit Champions award recognizes people who have been or who are the driving forces behind a tribal transit system. Tribal Transit Champions Award nominations are for individuals that have made significant contributions to the tribal transit community.

The Tribal Transit Systems award recognizes challenges overcome and best practices that raise the bar for tribal transit systems. The recognition of an agency will distinguish them as a champion for tribal and community mobility.

NEWLY ADDED: The Tribal Transit Capital Project Award honors Tribal Transit agencies that have overcome challenges to implement a new transit capital project within the past 5 years.

The deadline is October 20, 2023.
