Transportation Cooperative Research Program Seeks Information on COVID-19 Pandemic Transit Response and Partnerships

Published on: February 15, 2022

The Transportation Cooperative Research Program (TCRP) is conducting a synthesis study to gather information on how public transportation agencies engaged in diverse initiatives to meet their community’s needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. These initiatives, often created through partnerships with other organizations, utilized transit organizations’ resources in non-traditional ways, including for services like food delivery, internet access, and support and transportation to vaccinations.

These initiatives provide valuable lessons about how transit agencies can assess community needs, leverage diverse funding sources, form partnerships, and support equity goals in their communities.

To better understand the scope of these initiatives and the partnerships that were formed, TCRP is conducting a survey of organizations that may have been or currently are involved in pandemic-related support. The survey, which will be open through Monday, March 1, will take about 15 minutes to complete. Please access the survey to share how your organization helped to meet essential needs of the community during the pandemic.

FTA sponsors TCRP to develop and apply innovative solutions to help meet the demands placed on the nation’s public transit systems.
